Electrical contracting.
Automated.

Wire prices move week to week. Change orders disappear into email threads and get disputed at final billing. Permits sit waiting for inspection scheduling while the job clock runs. Commercial invoices age 45 days because no one pushed. Whether you're a residential service shop or running commercial work with multiple crews, the same administrative drag eats your margin. SYNTAX builds the systems that keep your jobs and cash moving.

What's slowing your jobs down

Electrical work spans two very different problem sets: residential service calls where speed-of-dispatch and review velocity matter, and commercial projects where change order documentation and payment cycle management are the difference between a profitable job and a collection headache. The paperwork overhead is the same at every scale -- it just gets more expensive as the jobs get bigger.

Dispatch Gaps & the Service Call That Went Elsewhere

A homeowner searching "electrician near me" for a tripped breaker or panel issue calls the first number that answers and books the appointment on the spot. Residential electrical service has a short decision window -- especially for anything that feels like a safety issue. An answering service that takes a message, or a callback that happens the next morning, means the job went to whoever picked up the same evening. Sending a tech to a panel call without pulling the prior site history means arriving at an unfamiliar box without context on what was done before.

Change Orders That Get Disputed at Final Billing

On a commercial tenant build-out or a service upgrade, the scope changes six times between contract and completion. Every change order that lives in a text thread or a verbal conversation is a liability. At final billing, the GC or property manager disputes $4,800 in additions because they have no signed documentation. Getting them to pay requires tracking down the conversation chain, pulling site photos, and negotiating something that should have been locked in writing at the time of the change. The dispute costs more to resolve than the margin on the change order itself.

Permit & Inspection Scheduling Delays

Pulling a permit is the start of the clock. Rough-in inspection needs to be scheduled before drywall closes. Final inspection needs to happen before the certificate of occupancy. Every day between rough-in complete and inspection approval is a day the job is sitting with an open permit and a homeowner or GC asking when they can move forward. Most shops track permit status in someone's head or a shared spreadsheet that's three weeks out of date. A missed inspection window means rescheduling and adding days to a job that should have been closed two weeks ago.

Material Cost Volatility & Slow Commercial Collections

Copper wire prices swing with commodity markets -- a 200-foot spool of 12/2 Romex priced in your estimate eight weeks ago may cost 15-20% more by the time you're pulling wire. Shops that don't build escalation clauses into commercial contracts absorb those moves silently. On top of that: commercial accounts on net-30 that drift to 60+ days because no one is actively aging the AR. An electrical contractor running $80,000 in monthly commercial billings with a 45-day average collection cycle has $120,000 in outstanding receivables at any given moment -- most of which could be collected faster with a defined follow-up process.

Implementations for every
size of operation

Residential service shops and commercial electrical contractors have different bottlenecks. Here's what SYNTAX deploys depending on your mix.

Residential Service
1-4 Techs
Your volume is service calls: panel inspections, outlet repairs, breaker replacements, EV charger installs, generator hook-ups. Speed of first contact is your competitive edge. SYNTAX captures every inbound call and web lead, books the job or sets a callback window, and sends the tech the prior site history before they arrive. Invoice goes out the moment the job is marked complete. Review request fires within the hour.
Inbound call capture + same-day booking Prior site history delivered to tech pre-job Invoice auto-send + review request on close
Mixed Shop
5-10 Techs
You're running residential service alongside commercial work and the two problem sets are colliding. Service calls need fast dispatch. Commercial jobs need change order documentation and permit tracking. You're probably running ServiceTitan or similar -- SYNTAX builds the automation layer on top of what you have: change order sign-off before work proceeds, permit milestone tracking, commercial AR aging with automated follow-up at net-30, net-45, net-60.
Change order documentation + digital sign-off Permit milestone tracking + inspection scheduling Commercial AR aging with automated follow-up
Commercial Contractor
10+ Techs
At this scale the margin leaks are in the documentation gaps: undocumented change orders, material cost variance between bid and install, commercial accounts where the relationship is good but the payment cycle is slow. SYNTAX builds the reporting layer: change order value by project, material cost variance by job, AR aging by GC or property manager, and permit cycle time by jurisdiction. The data that tells you which clients, projects, and project types are actually profitable.
Change order tracking by project + approval status Material cost variance: bid vs. actual AR aging by client + payment history

What we build for your operation

We don't sell software subscriptions. We build the automation layer on top of the tools you're already running -- ServiceTitan, Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuickBooks, Google Business Profile -- and we deploy it fast. Four systems that handle what's currently backing up your jobs and your cash flow.

Dispatch
Service Call Intake to Tech Dispatch

Call or web lead comes in, job type gets classified (panel issue, outlet repair, EV charger install, generator, commercial service), and the system pulls prior site history for that address before assigning a tech. Emergency calls -- anything with a safety flag -- jump the queue with a 2-hour arrival window confirmed to the homeowner by text. Residential service calls get the tech's prior visit history for that address attached to the job so he arrives with context, not questions.

Call or web lead received
→
Job type + safety flag classified
→
Prior site history pulled
→
Tech assigned by zone + job history
→
Customer gets arrival window by SMS
→
Tech gets job detail + site history
Change Orders
Change Order Documentation & Sign-Off

Every scope change on a commercial job generates a change order document the moment it's identified on-site -- description of work, material and labor cost, reason for change. The document goes to the GC or property manager for digital signature before any additional work proceeds. Signed change orders log against the project and roll into the final billing package automatically. Unsigned change orders that are more than 48 hours old trigger an internal alert. No more billing disputes at job close because the documentation cycle ran alongside the work.

Scope change identified on-site
→
Change order document generated
→
Sent to GC / PM for digital signature
→
Signed: work proceeds + logs to project
→
Unsigned at 48 hrs: internal alert fired
→
All COs roll into final billing package
Permits
Permit Milestone Tracking & Inspection Scheduling

Every permitted job has a milestone sequence: permit pulled, rough-in complete, rough-in inspection scheduled, rough-in passed, final work complete, final inspection scheduled, final passed, CO issued. The system tracks where each job sits in that sequence and fires reminders before the next milestone needs to happen. Rough-in inspection needs to be requested before drywall closes -- the system flags that window automatically. Jobs that have been sitting at a milestone for more than 5 business days without movement get flagged to the project manager before the delay becomes a problem.

Permit pulled
→
Rough-in complete: inspection scheduled
→
Inspection passed: next phase opens
→
Final complete: final inspection scheduled
→
Milestone stalled 5 days: PM alerted
Collections
Invoice, AR Aging & Commercial Collections

Residential jobs: invoice goes out the moment the tech marks the job complete, with a one-click payment link. Automatic follow-up at day 3, 7, and 14 for anything unpaid. Commercial jobs: invoice generated at job close with a detailed line-item breakdown including all signed change orders. Net-30 accounts get a statement at day 25 as a reminder before the due date. Escalation sequence fires at day 35, 45, and 60 for anything unpaid. AR aging report delivered weekly to ownership: balance by account, days outstanding, last contact date. Payment syncs to QuickBooks.

We built these systems
because we needed them first.

SYNTAX came out of Phase III Construction -- an insurance restoration contractor coordinating electrical, plumbing, and mechanical subcontractors across 5-12 simultaneous jobs in SE Michigan. We know what happens when a change order lives in a text thread and shows up disputed at final billing. We know what a permit milestone log looks like when it's tracked in someone's memory instead of a system. Different trade, same structural problem: undocumented scope changes and slow collections cost as much as the overhead on the job. We didn't design these systems from the outside. We built them because we were the ones absorbing the cost of not having them. The same systems that fixed our operation are what we deploy for yours.
